3 litre mv6 cutting out when warm
« on: 15 June 2009, 16:53:03 »

hi all, i have a ex police 3litre mv6 estate, the problem is that when it reaches about 90 on the temp gauge it just cuts out as if it was turned off! ive looked into this a lot and have had a few sugestions as to what it might be. fuel relay which i have changed, air flow meter which i have changed and the most common is crank sensor, this has been changed but not by me is there a way of testing it? are there different ones for this model and hes fitted the wrong one or would the ecu need resetting after the change to recognise the new part, also the crank sensor fitted was from a breakers yard so i am suspect of this. thanks mat

crank sensor is really a critical item and buying from scrap yard sounds bad to me :-/

and to add its internal electronics is effected from temperature changes when they are old..

you can neglect maf error for now..go for the crank sensor (vx) first..

redo paperclip test, if a 19 stored, change crank sensor. Ignore 31 errors

I have a 3.0l V6 elite and it's doing the same thing, first i thought it was the gearbox but after having back from Vauxhall on friday it's happened again.
They changed the oil and filter, but going to work this morning it just died around 80ish deg.
