Right im going to do the cam belt aux belt and the water pump but i was just thinking is there any other work or preventative maintanace that could be easily done when the car is stripped?

oh and coolant, i change mine every year. I know Vx Red is 5 years, but for £15 a year cost, its worth it.

i have got to do the coolant any way. it decided to empty itself onto the floor of a petrol garage.

well the water pump was making the noise and it looks to me like the bearings have gone. but i did post the question on here and was informed that it was more than likely to be the water pump as it was coming from the front of the engine.

Front, then yup waterpump, if its leaking water i would not drive it....

no i got it recovered and parked it up bought a little run arounds to get me by so i can take my time doing the work.

Check for oil leaking from cam covers and replace gaskets if so.
Check for water leaking from oil cooler in 'V' and re-seal if so.
