Idle Air Control Valve
« on: 29 June 2009, 14:34:26 »

My Idle Control Valve appears to not be working the engine won't idle and but runs ok when driving as long as I don't let the revs drop below 1000 rpm then the engine stops.
done the paper clip test have code 132 but the EGR is blanked off there are no other codes, the Engine management light is on all the time?
any ideas

Fitted a new Idle valve last night and it's made a massive different.
The car is running very well but I still don't understand why there were no fault codes, the valve must of sent the right responce to the ECU but stayed shut.

I don't think the IACV gives the ECU any feedback about its 'open-ness'.  On the 2.0 it's just a PWM-controlled solenoid-valve; so as long as the ECU 'sees' a solenoid at the end of the wiring, it'll be happy, even if the solenoid isn't succeeding in moving the valve open/closed as it should.

V6 one may be different though.

What is the part number for the rubber bung the fits the IACV to the Inlet chamber, my one is a bit worn and needs replacing.
Thanks
