Hi,
I've finally got my Mega back on the road but am still having a problem with my heater
.
I got it up to running temp. and noticed that on tick over the temp. dial crept up to 100 and when i put the heater full on it remained cold, on checking the 2 pipes coming through the bulkhead to the matrix the bottom pipe was red hot and the top was cold
.
The heater and running temp. was fine before i did the cambelt, water pump and breather clean and so am worried that i have possibly put a pipe on wrong :question.
The HBV seems OK(no leaks and not touched in work carried out).
Any ideas as this is getting me down now after all the trouble i(and RichieRich)went to refitting the metal bar behind the radio which operates the heater flaps and still ending up with a non working heater
.
Thanks,
Pete
.
Well today(Saturday)i took the Mega out for about a 6 mile run and when i got back i checked the matrix pipes again and this time they were both red hot so tried the heater and it seemed to work fine

.
The blockage as TheBoy suggested seems to have cleared itself

but the engine still seems to run hot especially when stopped in traffic or at lights, so my ? is what should the temp. gauge read when sitting for a while and the fan comes on and how many fans should actually come on?
I know these big engines get hot and as i said you can't really touch the radiator hoses for for more than a second, so is this normal as i don't want to boil the engine or do any damage such as HG

. Is there any way of testing if it's just normal heat as it doesn't blow any water out of the overflow or anything like that :-/.
Any help to put my mind at rest greatly appreciated,
Cheers,
Pete
