Morning folks - I'm trying to resolve a problem when starting from cold by following some of your past experiences. I'm doing this by a process of elimination and the next step would appear to be the crankshaft sensor.
Could someone with greater experience than I point me in the direction of the locatiomn of this sensor on the engine block on my 2.2 CD auto?
Many thanks in advance
Same as the 2.0L.
Run your hand down the oil dipstick tube until you reach
where it enters the crankcase.
Feel forward, towards the front of the engine, approx
2" and you'll feel the single mounting bolt and then the
sensor.
Easiest way to change it is to remove the dipstick tube
and plug the hole to stop anything dropping down it, then change the sensor from the top.
Beats scrabbling around on your back amongst the ants
and removing aircon pump or power steering pump.
Reroute the cable as in its original routing it forms a
perfect route for oil drips and condensation to run
down the cable, enter the shielding on the last third
and cook and crack your sensor where it collects.
