door removal

need to swap a rear door tomorrow and dont have a pin extractor, any tips as to how to bodge a tool? are the pins reusable?

Andy has a piece of studding he uses and after soaking the pin in WD40 or simular, did the trick for him many times over

I used a punch just smaller than the roll pin and tapped them out, I can't remember whether I knocked them up, or down. If you put something like an allen key in place of each pin as it comes out it will locate the door until you are ready for removal.

ive heard the way to do it is grip the flared end of the pins with pliers & hit pliers with a hammer, & im the same as ive got a couple of doors to change :y oh & perhaps running some 3 in 1 in the hinges might help or wd40 as herfordshiregirl says ;)

I use a largish chisel, has a curve chipped out of the leading edge - works a treat on the lip of the door pins.

I found the back doors to be more akward than the fronts as more limited on space

I use a small pair of Mole Grips and tap them till the pin comes out.
