It's probably jammed at one extreme or other of the motors travel, get a spanner on the hex and manually wind it back a bit.

will give that a go when the rain lets up  :y, if the motor is gone, is there a way to manually raise the seat height? being a short arse i need it to be at full height or i'll have to sit on a cushion  ;D

Just wind it to the required height.  :y

It should work as normal once you've freed it off.

they normally jam at the end of their travel and the motor doesn't have enough balls to free it, hence a socket on the end of the hex, frees it enough for the motor to take over, once you have the motor working again, take it up the end of its travel then just back it off a nats c*ck and that should prevent it jamming again
