I'm in Corby though I only have tools for medium-ish sized jobs. Even then, I'm only just getting to grips with Diesel engines. Anything needing a proper engineering firms attention and it is no go.

in wellingborough mate, my problem is the car is overheating,

so far i have,

done a coolant change (including fan on full)
took the scuttal off to check the HBV which seems in order
there are no leaks on the coolant is not dropping.
both top pipes are hot so dont think its the thermostat

just dont have either mega pennies or anything else i think i should check

Try back flushing radiator mate.  You may need new radiator.

Assume you refilled with heater on max and fans on to shift air.

Lol, I've got that snag and I've changed just about everything you can bar a new rad which looks in good nick.

It is certainly a PITA.

yeah refilled with the fans on, although i put the header cap back on the coolant.... not sure if that was right.

also is there a seperate cap for the radiator or is it all done through the coolant tank ?

is there any signs to look for on the radiator

Should run for a while with header cap off - and squeeze hoses to expell air.

No cap on rad - only on header tank.

nothing on the computer, the temp gauge will sit at just below 90 degrees then it will shoot in to 100 in the matter of minutes... fans kick in and will sit below 100 and stay there. although the fans inside the car will blow cold but i have no hot air  just not sure what else there is to try

Suggests HBV is not functioning as it should, as that should shunt hot water into the heater matrix
