Diesel fuel filter bleeding 2.2dti & wishbones
« on: 26 August 2009, 16:04:22 »

Does anybody have any tips or a procedure for priming the fuel filter on a 2.2dti ? Recently serviced my (new to me) Omega 2.2dti, & it took about 2 hours to get the diesel to pull through on the return line using a priming bulb >:( I did fill the new filter and housing with fresh diesel. I read that it's most important on the VP44 pump that the filter is fully bled or damage to pump will occur. I believe there is an electric pump you can buy ? Or do I need a stronger priming bulb ? I also had to make adaptors to fit the fuel filter inlet and outlet.
Also off topic (as a newbie) my last Omega (2.0GLS '96) I owned for 11 years. After 9 years I replaced the wishbones with Genuine Vx ones, only to have them MoT fail again after 2 years, for bad bottom ball joint on one and de-vulcanised rubber on the other. Can anyone recommend after market ones ?  :) Or is this a no no ?  >:(
Regards,

I think I had the opposite experience.

I fitted pattern wishbones within months of buying a high mileage Omege 7 years ago. After a couple of years they were shot so I fitted (reassuringly expensive) genuine VX wishbones.

As far as I know they were still fine when I traded the car in a couple of weeks ago.
