DIS pack and leads
« on: 24 August 2009, 19:28:23 »

Ok, so payday tomorrow. Other than Ebay, where else can I look for said items? I know I can get a set of leads from ABS. Anywhere else? What about the DIS pack?

Hoping this clears my misfire, I can't see any other reason otherwise

What condition are your spark plugs?

I once replaced my dis to try and cure a misfire. When I later changed the plugs I discovered that the electrodes had eroded and the gaps were twice as big as on the replacement plugs.

Misfire disappeared as soon as I fitted the new plugs.

hi what dispack you after? there are three different types for the omega, two of which look the same. i have a genuine bosch item here, clean and good condition, looking for a good home:

bosch part no (printed on unit) 0221503010
vauxhall part no 90511450

let me know if it's of use to you.

for your leads try autovaux, very reasonable. vx will kill your wallet for ht leads.

Spark plugs are brand new, changed them when I did the rocker cover gaskets. I still need to remove the DIS pack to see which one it is. Will let you know. If not, try Autovaux for that too?

Thanks

Is there any recommendation for leads? As in any specific brands to go for, or ones to avoid?

I've seen some on ebay, never been too sure about ebay though. They state they are Bosch though.

Anyone else got any ideas as to where to go?

Thanks

as above, the autovaux ones are good. if you're prepared to part with vx prices you'd be better off with magnecor!

I've had a look at Autovaux but there is nothing listed on the site! So no prices. Tis too late to phone them now too. I'm not paying VX prices and tbh not keen on the Magnecour's price either.

autovaux dont really have anything of note listed on their website, it's pretty misleading. best thing is to give em a call. a bank of leads is about 30 quid i think

sorry dispack isnt of use to you

Is it recommended to use Bosch parts?

I ask as I see DIS packs for £35 ish, I did replace one on a Vectra V6 I had and seemed fine, whats the consensus?

How much are Autovaux's leads?

as said above autovaux leads are about 30 quid per bank. a bosch dispack will set you back anywhere between 80 and 150 quid new. i'll pm you the link that i got mine as i'm not sure on the rules about linking to products on the forum atm...  :y

Thanks for that. So just the leads now.

Anyone know if a resistance test is conclusive? Tested them all and they are all between 4k Ohms and 12k Ohms depending on length.

Some Bosch ones on Ebay but have read things about them not being much good. Autovaux and VWP seem to be around £60 a set. Cheaper would be better as I'm not planning on keeping the car after March.
