i drove to Amsterdam and back without adapting them, only used the lights once during a shower. Had a set of adapters in the glove box, if i was stopped i was going to say 'well there were there when i started, maybe they fell off'

Then produce the 'spare set' from the glove box

If that's the case I dont think i'll bother, do the authorities check when you get off the ferry ?? All my driving is going to be done during the day anyway.

NO checks done getting off either the norfolkline dunkirk ferry or dover calais ones......

just stand the chance of being randomly stopped as you do in any country

Cheer guys for all the advice. i think i might just take a chance and not bother with the lights. As I said it they don't check often and we are driving only in the daytime.

Driving in France you need:

1) Hi Vis Jacket for each member in the car, thats accessible from inside the car. IE not in the boot!

2) Bulb Set

3) Spare pair of glasses if you wear them

4) Warning Triangle

:o  i dont even own a spare pair of glasses haha

Just swap 'em over at home. You're not converting the beam, just cutting the up sweep to the left off. You're perfectly legal just leaving them set symmetrical dipped beam (mine have been through the MOT left set fro Europe.  :y
