Air Con Questions
« on: 09 September 2009, 18:45:54 »

Coming home from work i thought the aircon wasnt as cold as it should be at "LO" ..... in fact it feels cooler at 16c than at LO so i was thinking re-gas  :-/
However when i sit in the car with no radio on and fan turned down to minimum i hear what i can only describe as like a hiss when i put air con on but this noise goes away when i hit ECO ... The fans on the radiator do run when aircon is put on though .... hiss may not be the right word for what i hear but i dont think ive ever heard this before ....
HELP !!    :y

I am sure mine made an odd noise (very quiet tho) when it was low on gas. Pump was still spinning but air wasnt very cold. Not much you can do but get it checked and gassed as needed.

If there really is no mobile guy near then bodge it and scarper it will have to be. Just dont get ripped off and keep in mind they will regas to a pressure not a weight, which is fine normally if all you need is a top up. LP should be about 35 psi and HP should be about 2.5x ambient temp (*f). Should be less than £50 for a top up, around £60 for full check.

As far as I know, Kiwk fit will only regass if they can get it cooler than what it currently is. They declined to do mine a few weeks ago, stating that they wouldn't be able to get it any cooler.
