Another thing......it could be a dodgy connector at the ECU end....wherever that is hidden  :-/

The MOT test doesn't care if fault codes are showing, the only things that have to work correctly at the time of the test are the testable items.

In short, if the beam pattern is correct then it's a pass regardless of what the car is telling you.
