Omega V6 2.5 Auto Misfire
« on: 14 September 2009, 14:47:35 »

Dear All, I have an Omega V6 2.5 Auto which i am very pleased with, however just recently it has developed a misfire when under load when using kickdown or sport mode.  I have changed the spark  plugs, spark plug lead, and the DIS pack. Still the misfire persists. has anybody got any other ideas as to what the cause could be? Knock sensor? Fuel injection? Any comments gratefully accepted!!!

As said do the paperclip test
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1189022687
then post your codes so we can try to help you further.
It sounds very much like your crankshaft sensor though. thats code 19.

Agree with Ghost Driver. :y  I have the same problem on my elite. Car drives ok normally but when i use kickdown and boot it i get a missfire at around 4000rpm. Like you i had my plugs, leads and dispack changed a while ago and when DLK popped in for a brew last week he popped his gizzmo on my car and code 19 came up. He is changing it for me friday :y

Dear All, thank you for your suggestions. Paper clip test has been performed both with car running and switched off. The only code that shows is a 12. I believe this is the code that indicates the start and end of the diagnostic run. Will take on board the suggestions and try changing the crankshaft sensor and also look at the timing belt tension. Cheers

Dear All, have just done as suggested regards test for crankshaft sensor (rev car to 4000 rpm etc), sure enough got the misfire. Did teh paperclip test and there it was a code "19".  At last getting somewhere! Going to get a new sensor Monday and fit. Will let you know the outcome. Many thanks for all of your assistance. GH :y

Dear All, now I have the problem of identifying what type of sensor I have. i am being told there are three different types. Where do i look to discern which type i have? Is therre a part number i should be looking for and where?

Many Thanks

If yours is still an original part there still might be a number on the sensor I believe, you must also have a look at the plug to see if its square or rounded and how many pins you have,
