Black Smoke
« on: 28 September 2009, 19:50:52 »

Hi guys.

I have an Omega 2.0cdx (1999) with nearly 150,000 on the clock.  I have recently noticed when the engine is warm and I put my foot down there seems to be alot of smoke coming from the exhaust, the engine runs fine and is very quite.  It has a full service history from day one.  As I am not very mechanical minded could anyone give me a few possibilities of what is causing this.  Could this be the oil rings need changing or something? any help would be most appreciated.  I have also noticed when the car is ticking over there is a funny smell from the exhaust ??

rings would be blue smoke, black smoke indicates over fueling running rich, could be something simple as fuel filter or air filter dirty, check these might be worth putting some redex or some fuel clener in your fuel tank to clean full system :y

Nice one M8 will try that first.  As I live in Stoke on Trent does anyone know of anyone who can give my car a tune up.  Dont want to take it to Greenhous or main dealer as I would probably have to re-mortgage!

My tuppence is.... black smoke generally when you boot it is carbon deposits. How old is your zorst? Run a decent injector cleaner through (not redex, I said decent) and take it for an Italian tune up (a rather good blast between 15 and 16) then see if it still does it :y
