***BAD NEWS***
« on: 30 September 2009, 22:45:57 »

My 2.5 manual elite has just been written off by the insurance company.
A lorry was turning right and I was turning left, and then the lorry decided to turn left into the front offside of the Omega.

One bright bit of news is my courtesy car is an 09 BMW 318d M, nice car, but not a patch on the omega for comfort.

I've been offered £500 for the car the book price is £340, so I guess it's a good deal, I'm getting to keep the car and my intention was to repair the car, all it needs is a front offside wing and front bumper, but due to work commitments I won't have the time to repair it

So if anyone wants to make me an offer feel free otherwise, i will be stripping the poor thing, it really breaks my heart.

Damn! that's bad news. Try to get Bog Roll to repair it for you. There's also a lot of migs being broken on here. So you might just get away with parts real cheap and get your car running again  :y

FYI, and I really hate to suggest this. The scrap value for a car taken to a scrap yard is about £170. The scrap price fluctuates slightly day by day but will be in that region.

Chances are you could break the car and sell the valuable bits (bose, xenons, rad, abs, leather(?), cruise, cats etc) scrap the shell and make more than selling on for repair

The only catch is that you have to take the car to the scrap yard which really means towing it there. If they collect them you will prbably get £50 for it if not too far away, or zero if they have to travel. It's also quite time consuming and assumes that you have somewhere to do the work & with winter coming that could be the real factor.
