Is it the power sounder?
« on: 30 September 2009, 17:04:54 »

Just recently my car has started making 4 chirping noises from under the bonnet when I get out.Doesn't do it all the time & everything works fine.Is it the power sounder batteries on their way out or something more sinister ?Any ideas?

Disconnect it. http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1220198611 :y
Yep, and the alarm still works as normal, no problems.
Ok, technically it's no longer a "factory spec" system as far as insurance goes, but if a Scumbag was able to get past the alarm, they could just as easily disconnect the P.S, and how could they prove you did it anyway.

is'nt it that the power sounder gose there isthe horn that still works and that is no voide on insurance, as long as somthing is going off to alert people that somthing is wrong, have herd that youcan fit the new alarm sounder now the one that your ears can follow like the police, makes it cheaper on insurance aswell, from what heard. :y

power sounder is a back up alarm which goes off  if  the battery is disconnected by a thief, hence it has its own power source. That power source is failing, signified by the 4 beeps, and could well be leaking battery acid over the sounders internal board. You can disconnect it but would suggest removal, they are not unknown for catching fire. And if your going to remove it you may as well cut it open and see if the board is free from battery acid, if ok have a go at soldering in some new batterys. Having seen Kevin do mine its not that hard to de and re solder new batterys into them,IF you can solder, which i cant. :-)
