Stalling problem
« on: 25 October 2009, 11:32:49 »

I just got my new mig the other day and this morning it keeps stalling on me.  It won't keep the revs up enough and stalls, even when driving.  Has anyone got any ideas?

It is a 1999 MV6 3.0 auto estate.

Thanks for any advice! :-* :-* :-*

look in the maint guide section for instructions on it.

Are you sure its a 3.0? photo in the test zone shows a Tourer not a MV6? Means its a 2.5.

Still same thing though, paper clip and clean the ICV

Well I bought it as an MV6.  Loo knee has worked on it apparently.

I did the paperclip test and there was no fault code, just 31 for no revs.

How do I clean the ICV?

Thanks for your help! :-*

Just pop it off and give it a good long squirt of carb cleaner, leave it sit a while then tip it out, repeat if necessary. Once it's all clean put a drop of duck oil/3in1 in to lube it and re-fit :y

Looks like an aluminium tube front passenger edge of the plenum, elec plug to the front, pipe to the rear and a side pipe going into the plenum.

Thanks. I took the ICV off my other mig to test on the new one and so far it has been fine.  Does anyone know what else might cause this problem?

MAF sensor is located close to the air filter, there is a 90deg bend coming off the filter connected to the maf. undo 3 jubilee clips disconnect the plug and remove the cylindrical thing complete with the sensor and swap it for another known good one and see it if it makes any difference. And if it dosent, scrap it and buy mine, its still for sale  ;D and it now has 12 months test :y
