Oil leak from back of the engine?
« on: 29 October 2009, 21:43:45 »

Hi guys
I have a omega 98 2.0 16 v auto.
Couple of days ago i noticed a lack of power and weird noise from under the car when in drive mode.
Looked under and saw an oil leak. i have traced the leak and looks like its coming somewhere from back of the engine between engine and gear box i have also noticed a broken hose that comes from gearbox looks like an oil hose bit confused there because didnt think that the box was conected to the engine via oil hose ?
When i pored the oil it took almost 3 liters of oil!!! shock
When i warmed uo the engine the oil started pooring out.

Any ideas where is it coming from ?

Thank you
Sly

Either cam cover gasket or HG... would need further investigation

sounds like the gearbox breather/vent pipe it should come up near the heater matrix pipes on the bulk head to stop it from self draining, but could be wrong

No good monitoring it mate. The camcover gasket is breaked. Replace ASAP and clean the breathers otherwise you`ll be looking at more expense

I had exactly the same on my 4 cylinder. Changed the cam cover gasket and all is good :)
