205 is max width that will fit (properly) in saloon. From memory, 195 on estate.

As you say 205 in a saloon, with this size the carpet wheel cover fits as it should.I got a 17" with 245 x 45 x17 in my saloon well but the carpet cover is a little too small to cover the tyre properly but wheel fits in there nice and tight

...and should the boot be full and it is a rainy day? Put it on the back seat with the passengers  ;D Lob it in a verge and come back later to collect  ::)

They didnt really think that one out really did they!

And as for the folks with 265 / 18's ... well...  ;D

I beleive that the 226 / 16's will fit in the saloon but the carpet thing does not really fit over it.
