Intermittant missfire
« on: 23 October 2009, 22:19:54 »

Evenin' all, I've got a missfire problem. Runs fine from cold and when you" floor it", however when it warms up and I'm driving around normally I'm getting an occasional miss. Could this be a problem with the fuel injectors? :-/

Dis replaced a month ago. Not had the plugs out yet. If it was a lead breaking down why bwould it run fine when cold only to miss when it warmed up? :-/

Things expand when warm. In order of expense....

 plugs, cheapest from vx.
Leads, most expensive from vx. Try euro car parts.
Dis you have done.

If you fine oil in plug wells at any point, will need new cam cover gaskits as the guide on here.

Did we swap the plugs when the cam covers were done at the Lakes last year Tony?
Could be worth doing for the few quid it costs.

No Captain only the akward b*gger back right hand bank. The rest of the plugs have only done about 15K I'll whip them out and have a look at them when it stops bl00dy raining.

Latest update; Got a bit of a cam cover leak on one bank. cleaned all the oil out and checked the plugs all o.k. examined the leads and they look o.k. Had a run up to the borders and noticed that if you press the accelorator very gently it did not "miss"if you pressed it gently it "missed until you backed off then it ran fine also if you floored it, it would hesitate for a second then run on all six. It now missfires form cold on tickover.
Help anyone please :'(
