Running hot?
« on: 28 October 2009, 19:47:30 »

Hi, Im new here and dreadfully nonmechanical, I have a 2.2 cd auto, she gets hot in traffic (up to almost the big 100) but comes down ok when fan kicks in. Is this normal? Do Omegas run warm? Also she seems to have deposited a pint or two of water on the drive tonite (after got home), is this an overflow or a problem??
Thanx for any input, JC   :-/

dint know that, mine has two fan switches one on radiator and one on oil cooler, oil cooler comes sporadically and is slow running, but you can feel it when the radiator one kicks in.

definitely pulled the oil cooler one off when changed the radiator as  the oil cooler was bolted to the radiator at the front. was on the right hand side at top just under feed pipe.

never, once, managed to get mine to go above 95 on the temp, that was on a super hot day in stop-start traffic.

It shouldn't really kick water out of the overflow unless it's been overfilled or the system is pressurizing :(.

Have you checked for water in the oil or white smoke from the exhaust :question.

You said it left a "Pint or two" on the drive, Air-con leaves water under the car.  ::)

Thanx all; wasnt air con, I had a Vectra that did that. Traffic was bad and the temp went up to 90 then back down with fan assistance. No white smoke or water in oil/oil in water(thats head gasket isnt it?) Just had her out to Newark and back, 20 miles; temp was wavering between 80 and 85 but that was while I was doing a constant 55mph!!
She just seems to like being warm!!
I've waited years for this car and am so happy with her, maybe I'm looking for problems??
Thanx again for all your advice, I think I like it here! :D
