Mine's proven to return a constant 33mpg around here.

It doesn't seem to vary when cruising on the M4 here either, and all things considered, I'm reasonably happy. Given that yours is an auto, be prepared for less mpg than this.
I was, however, disappointed with 23mpg when towing our 22' caravan to the Newent meet.

Ah well, happy days eh!

Mine is a chipped saloon AR35 auto.

Around town I get mid 30's but on a run I have seen 51mpg over a 250 mile trip. I was being gentle when pulling away but averaging 80 on the A1/M.

If you drive what I would call normally, you should be looking at 37ish on a combined cycle.

Well worth doing if you haven't already, once that 2 second delay is gone (when you plant your foot into the carpet) they don't half shift for a big motor :y :y

according to the MID on mine im getting 45mpg & thats a mixture of town & long runs, but there is doubt as to how accurate the MID`s are, but either way its more economical & alot quicker for being chipped. :y :y

Yep, you've got to keep the big lump 'on song' .....
Although you won't win any races, they don't half perform well considering they're big, heavy motors.

As Mrs Sethsmate says (and does so): "Drive it like you stole it!"

Hmmm, a bit of an 'old chestnut' this one .........
The only accurate method is to brim the tank, use it, then refill it again.

My MID usually shows 49-50mpg which when I work out accurately seems to equate to about 40mpg.

That is on a manual 'box which helps and is based upon a 30 mile dual carriageway commute everyday.

If I am on a mission then it will be significantly less  ;D

I used to get low 30s (reality, not MID) from my old chipped auto tractor saloon.  That said, the throttle had 2 positions - on or off. I miss that car!

Chipped tractors always overread MPG, so you can't go by MID.  My MID used to read between high 30s and low 50s, depending on how I drove it (on a gentle cruise up to Berwick earlier this year, it claimed over 50mpg over the journey (steady cruise, as had the outlaws with us, and car fully laden), rough in head calcs when filling up put it around 40mpg in reality).
