fault code po 420

hi there i got a auto mechanic out to read the fault code on my 2.2 auto wich read po 420 he said it has somthing to do with the cat sensor 2 and cleared the code any probs give him a call

ihave looked at the fault codes on here for the 2.2 cant see any of the above??????  iant a car mechanic
any advice

P0420 is "Catalytic converter efficiency below threshold"

Even if this code is appearing (it's common on 3.2 V6s) you'll probably find that the emissions are fine at MOT time. Keep an eye on it and see if it comes back.

The only way i got rid of mine was to change to a new cat  :-/

I have this come up on mine when ive been putting me foot down.,and the eml stays on...to get rid of it i plug the code reader in and clear the code,it works every time :y

there is a guide in maintenance iirc, re a fix for this, and involves moving the second lambda behind the main act. It means removal and some welding but cheaper than a new or other cat. Guide is for a v6 but i belive the pre cat main cat layout is the same, so still applies, please correct me if not. :-)

Worth a look if the code comes back, as it usually does. Hth

I tried the " fix " but it didnt work for me  :-/ .... Vx must have put a real cheap rubbish cat on mine .... only cure i found was to replace with better quality cat  :y
