Should it be reading all the 9's in the Inst Cons field?

Its switched to gallons consumption per hour, rather than mpg. Corrrect thing to do when at idle.

Also, your check light is on  ;)

Its normally at 2 while in traffic? The last couple of days it started reading 0.

Dont think that was what was being asked.

I would be happy if my car gave zero consumption at tickover rather than 0.3 or 0.4 gall per hour....

mine varies between 0.2 and 0.3 gals/hr at idle depending on what ancilliaries I have switched on. I don't think I have ever seen it show 0:0? When I first got the car and and it showed 999.99 on overrun, I was like a pig in shi*e for about 1 minute until reality set in & I realised what a plonker I was LOL :D ;D ;D ;)
