code reader

just been looking on ebay for code reader am i right in looking for an obd 2 reader what should i be bidding for i have a laptop with serial port.

Wouldn't bother with pc and port type software off ebay, be cheap yes, but doubt it'll work right.

If you don't want to pay too much for a simple code reader that'll read engine codes, and transmission codes, try searching for a Sealey VS8700 reader from somewhere you know won't be a cheap chinese copy (autoshops may have them) !!.  If you shop around, maybe able to get one for around £50-£60.

Get yourself to chester services on sunday lunchtime sure there will be a code reader there. Bit of a meet going on i hear :y
