« on: 20 November 2009, 20:23:49 »

*EDIT - Due to replies, i'm gonna try and fix it!

It's an auto in black, and it broke down on me today  :-/
I think the water pump has siezed up as the accessory belt has shreaded.

True, but my problem is the car is stuck about 70 miles away from where I live. So, I could get it recovered home at a large cost then repair it. Or I could go and repair it where it is. Trouble is, I am not 100% sure what i'd need.

When it stopped, i didn't have any time to have a good look at it and assumed it was the water pump. Apart from the shreaded belt, I found a circular piece of plastic that looks like it goes around a pulley, but it was half melted and detatched from where it belonged.

Anyone know what this might be?

Thanks.

The aux belt tensioner is breaked, replace the pulley on it`s own ( about £30) only held on with a 15mm nut, replace the aux belt. Job done :y

get rac account or aa and get it picked up have to be with the car at time but they will get it home for you, cheaper than a garage to call out, get road side recovery. then you have time to fix it, :y :y

chances are its your aux belt tensioner that siezed, hence belt having meltdown.

Thanks gents! This has given me food for thought and lifted my spirits.

I'm gonna grab a new tensioner and belt and see how it goes.

I was soo cheesed off originally, that I just wanted to get shut of it (it's been a bad day).
