noticed car was juddering in drive (auto) last night when at lights with foot on brake thought time to service car.
Wife went out later rang home saying coolant check had come up on dash and car ticking over rough.
so today thought I would clean out the breather and throttle body using the forums wonderful pages.
Still rough idle, tonight replaced spark plugs (no 4 dark rest ok).
Still same.
When first fired up from cold ticks over ok but after driving for a minute it starts to run rough on tickover, I am thinking HT bank breaking down??
had to fill coolant up seemed very low is this a differant fault or part of same problem?.
checked oil no water in it.
engine management light always on.
can you wnderful chaps shed any light.

is nobody able to help need car for work if its the coil pack i can try and get one tommorow

would think MAF gone or the wires need cleaning on te wiring clean all wires up and see if that works, but you should have the ECU read to see what codes come up :y

thanks for that i live in preston lancs is there a member close by that can read codes dont really want to go to main dealer.

with caution, i'm thinking ignition system and a water leak. Would be nice if you could borrow a good coil pack from a member near you, swap and see if it behaves, cracks in the plastic or torn or soft rubber boots, any signs of damage etc. Oil in the plug wells will not help at all if present. If new plugs swap plug 4 over in case its duff and see if the colour goes with the plug or stays wi th that pot, if the latter would look at c pac.

Clean mayo free oil is a relief.

I'm cautious as it would be nice to read the codes before going any further. On the 2.2 thats not possible without a code reader.

Water leak, first place to look is hbv. Well covered on here. Guide in maintenance.

as mentioned you need to get the codes read. Might be worth getting the 'cheapo' version off eBay for £30.

I would be thinking coil pack, whats the miles on it? Mine started to go at 110k not miss firing but would judder under load at low revs.

But before you go changing anything, get those codes read!

what a good idea can you read all the codes with this reader off ebay and if so is it called a tech 2 also

latest news work at college didnt know we hads bosch diagnostic gear clever stuff blue tooth to computer showing how my car running.
my colleague said the fault was on ignition to cyl 4 which i was hoping he would say as it was this plug that looked bad.
so went and bought coil pack fit it and no differant.
when i looked at no4 coil on my old unit i am sure i could see a very fine crack so everything seems to point to coil pack so why is it still faulty?
do i have to reset the codes any help out there

reset them and see if they come back, if its got a crack in the DIS pack, thats not good.

On the up side there are not too expensive and easy peasy to replace
