Autobox problem 2.2 facelift
« on: 19 November 2009, 16:39:49 »

Hello, any advice please, While driving to work this morning, the engine rev's died, the engine management light came on, and "Automatic Gearbox" on the display. the car limped back home in what I believe is safe mode. When I got home this afternoon, I tried it again, and this time starts no problem, the EML has gone out, and the dash display is clear. I plan to check the ATF level at the weekend just in case, but has anyone else got any other ideas on what it could be?   Thanks, Chris

Seems a few 2.2 autos are troublesome just lately. I'm no expert only had my 2.2 auto 2 weeks.
Seems the first thing to do is check or even changed the fluid, going to get mine done soon, although mine seems fine, fingers crossed.......probably get an update done also.
Someone will be along soon to advise you better.

Hi Serek, thanks for the offer, I'm in St.Neots, I'll check the ATF first, I've read a few posts, and that seems to be the fav 1st course of action, and then go from there

Mine did the same thing once, and only once, at the beginning of September. Stopped & restarted, all okay, so Pedal tested it, and got "P1700 Service Vehicle Soon Request from Transmission Control Module". Going to have the ATF changed soon just in case  :y

update on this one, I checked the ATF today as per the guides on here, and it's fine, the car drove perfectly this morning when I took it out to warm the gearbox. so hopefully all OK, unless someone can confirm differently, I dont think the pedal trick works on a 2.2 facelift, so it looks like I'll have to get the codes read and cleared.
