Need to disconnect the SAI
« on: 13 November 2009, 21:58:07 »

Well its been noisy for a while but now the SAI has failed. So instead of grinding for 30 secs it now is mostly silent but the dash lights go dim then bright every second for the 30 seconds when its supposed to run. Amazed that no fuse has blown !

Now as I understand it I need to remove the n/s front wheel, remove the wheelarch liner and then behind it I should find the SAI which I then simply unplug, is that right ? Is it obvious once the liner is removed ?

Cheers

Can do without removing liner - you can feel for the connector :)

Or take it to Oak Road, and send a Tunnie in to the narrow bits ;)

Or just pull the 50A fuse that supplies it with power.

Having looked in the user guide the 50A fuse dfor the SAI isnt shown, so I guess its one of the fuses under the bonnet that are shown as 'dealer only' items in my handbook  ;D

I havent had a chance to get under there yet, will it be obvious which fuse I need to pull - is there just the one 50A fuse ?

Cheers

The fuse is in the under the bonnet fuse box next to the battery. It's big and orange and I think it's the only one like it in that fuse box.

i bet it is full of water in the motor fan, could mean that the valve is letting exhaust gas in and is going the wrong way. main fault is water. pull pipe off if it comes out then valve is gone.

Why not? At 14V that's only 700W; your toaster is more powerful.  ;D
