My son has just called me.He used the mig tonight and is worried about the headlight beam patten.The car has projector type lights not HID.He says on his car fitted with the same type of lights he has no kick up and a flat patten to the beam.he also says the lights seem to be pointing too much to the near side.On the off side there seems to be hardly there at all.The lights were adjusted at the mot 2 months ago and i always thought there was something wrong with the beam patten.
Can someone confirm if projectors need adjusting differently to standard lights and also is the meant to a kick up or just a flat patten.

Understand completely!
Your car's head lights should show \____ \____ where as a symetrical pattern would show ____ ____ (same as if you adjusted the levers fro EU driving  )   
Some cars only have the provision to give a symetrical pattern

So if i understand it should have the kick up.he also told me even the the switch on the dash the still light up the tree's.

The dial/switch will only lower the beam pattern for when you have your mother & Father-in-law in the back seat and the 4r$e end of the car is low. The lights still need to be correctly adjusted for an empty car witrh the switch set to 0/zero

That was done at the mot station 2 months ago,the tester showed me on the beam boxes(or what ever their call) at the time and there were adjust to the red line were he said they were supposed to be but they seem high,dipped and high beam.

No mine are replacement lights.My son had them rechecked yesterday,still spot on at the garages beam tester.But to he tells me at night they still seem too high and keeps getting flashed by on coming drivers.Only mod to lights is a pair of "nightbreakers".
Could the garages beam tester be out ?

Sounds like the fitted bulbs are wrong.

I hate this so best not start - but the clue must be the getting flashed.

Rip the bulbs out and fit proper ones.  Some lenses do not have the right optics for some aftermarket bulbs and the glare is criminal.

Many on here use Nightbreakers. I have them and have had no problems.

It's not the bulbs as he tried swapping for them for so called standard halfaud items.Night breakers are not higher wattage bulbs but give a cleaner white light.I am now in the mind of ripping out both lamp units,binning them and buying some new units shame as these are only 5 months old.
