Drivers door lock won't lock by remote
« on: 21 November 2009, 08:35:22 »

One thing after another!
The drivers door lock wont work when the keyfoib is used but all of the others do. All locks work as they should when the key is used in the drivers door but it is stiff. There is a double clunk-clunk as they lock with the remote but the drivers door remains open.
Perhaps it just needs a good lube due to its age? Any Ideas?
How does the trim come off to get to the interior of the door? Anything special I should look out for when I take it off?
Regards

does it unlock on the remote? Check the maint guide section for my guide on changing door locks, sounds like the motor could have failed.

Yeah, mine did this for a while then seemed to clear and worked perfectly. Last night it decided to play up again with exactly the same fault. I guess it must be a poor connection to the solenoid or something.

Mine started playing up a short while ago. I got a used solenoid for £14.99 off ebay delivered just today! See http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1175610013 on how to replace it.

K, found the explanantion and I shall rip (joke) the door card off and have a closer looky. I reckon it may just be a bit of a lube job but has to be done anyway.
The remote does try to work it but appears to go so far than sticks while the others doors all open and close as per usual.
Cheers

Mine did just this in April, and I cleared it by the following method. Sadly whilst it was a quick fix it was only temporary as the problem has returned again just this week.

The quick fix, which i am sure I read on here, is to remove one at a time the screws that secure the lock into the end of the door, then insert the straw and squirt in a healthy dose of wd.

I can live with that routine twice a year, so might just do it again thisafter.

Bugger it,
Stripped it all out as per the instructions and had a good look at the whole job lot. That electrical connector on the door motor is a real piece of s**t and hard as buggery to seperate. Anyway it did eventually see oit my way! All of the mecahnsim was free and easy and well lubed already so I gave it a load more of spray grease and WD. While it was out I took the motor of its mounting and connected it by itself to the wiring loom again and tried it. Bloody thing worked but chattered like it was crazy, like a bleedin machine gun! Put it all back together and tried it again and it didn't work at all so can only presume that its so p**s weak that it won't pull the mechanism.  Suppose till I can get another I will just use the key. Funny how all of the other locks work though.
Don't suppose it could be a relay somewhere with some dodgy contacts? My luck aint that good though.
Is it possible??
Got soaking wet too into the bargain.

New lock and mechanism fitted but is now a bit stiff. Could be that I have got one of the rods the wrong way but that can be done later.
main thing is it works again.
Not such a bad job at all but could have done with smaller hands!
Cheers all, and thanx

possibly because it's also linked to the switch, i.e. more mechanical links

Right,
Got a used rear drivers door lock and mechanism from Ebay and looked at it. Found the only apparent difference to the drivers door one was the colour of the plastic rod retainers so took a chance and fitted it to my drivers door. MAGIC! Central locking works like a dream first time everytime and all of the other associated systems that link to it also work.
Now to get to the other engine jobs..... B****ks, its started to rain now!
Watch the telly instead.
Regards, and thanx for help
