immobiliser help please :)
« on: 27 November 2009, 23:37:42 »

hi everyone, i am buying a omega off of a friend who has lost the key for it, i need to get the car home, will it be easy/doable to take the immobilser sensor ring and ignition barrel out of my omega and fit them in the other one, or is there a way of getting the steering lock off without a key? i can short the ciggy lighter socket to get ignition turned on and then short the starter to turn it over, is there a way to trick the immobilser like fitting the one from my omega? any comments welcome thanks all  ;D

RAC can get you a new key for £90, take one day, as freind of mine snaped his key and lost  the end, rest should swap if they are the same for same. :y

The only way you could do a swap would be to swap the ecu and immoiliser ecu from your car. even then, they must both be the same i.e. 2.5 auto and check that the numbers on the ecu are the same otherwise it wont work.

i swapped a lock barrel over last weekend and needed the key.

however, if its a 2.5 auto then I may be able to help as I have an ecu, immobiliser and key fom a '98 estate.
