Gates cambelt kits.
« on: 01 December 2009, 17:46:17 »

Hello All.

My '98 3 litre Elite is due a cambelt kit change in the near future.  In the interests of saving a few quid, would you recommend using Gates' cambelt kits instead of the "genuine" Vauxhall kits?  I've heard Vauxhall sources their kits from Gates anyway - is this correct?

Any views would be greatly appreciated.   :)

Cheers.

Seconded. Gates kits are normally fine, as are SKF (Gates belt and SKF bearings).

i recently changed the cambelt on my 2.6

i used a gates kit the only problem i had was the tensioner mounting plate was different so i swaped over the rollers and everything fine

will say that the timing on no3-4 was out slightly now all timed up spot on and car runs smoother with better mpg and seems to have more power :y
