hi there first thing is im new to this site so i will say hello to everone
Now then can anyone help me iv just had my omega for 6 weeks and i think the head gasket has gone its a 2.6 v6 on a y reg and has only got 74000 miles .the problem is the coolant has brown guee water the local garage says its the head gasket and said to do the job around 1300 quid well i nearly past out can any one shed any light pls...

More likey the oil cooler has failed, not the head gasket, much cheaper to repair (less than £150 for parts)

Oil leaks from the cooler into the coolant

As Tunnie said its more than likely the oil cooler which is a dam sight cheaper and easier to do

Sounds like oil cooler has gone some garages diagnose this wrong. It is rare for a H/G to go on a V6 (from what i have read) The oil cooler is in the V. So i guess from what you are saying is you have oil in your coolant bottle try not to drive the car.

Oil cooler gone mate - oil in coolant but no sign of coolant in oil!

hi welcome,sounds exactly like mine in the middle of doing it,got most my parts allready just wish the bl##dy weather would stop raining on me plus it's getting colder,i think i will end up parking it up till new year and just use me galaxy,it does'nt look a hard job to do just take your time+you can change the hbv,plug leads,plugs,clean out the breather box as well like me eventually weather permitting arh!

Cap full of bleach works well i am told, flush well with water afterwards
