Trouble wiv me nuts!
« on: 13 December 2009, 17:00:36 »

Exhaust manifold to cat ones that is. I have fitted two new exhaust manifold gaskets, copper nuts and compression washers but they keep working themselves loose every 500 miles. The studs are fine, not loose. Not sure what to try next as nylon ones are out of the question.

Hi,
If you have used the proper Vauxhall ones they should not be working loose. Mine never have. Nylon lock nuts are about as much use as a chocolate poker, the nylon will melt and it will stink like buggery.
The Vauxhall OEM ones (90570845) are only £1.50 inc  each so go for them.
Failing that get some 'crimped top' ones from a decent ironmonger. Last resort would be spring washers, not lockwashers mind.

I'd fit the Vx ones nice and tight, then tighten another nut to each of them.
Obviously you'll need to counterhold the Vx ones - I'd be surprised if this didn't effect a cure!
