Spark plugs V6 LPG
« on: 14 December 2009, 17:10:37 »

Running LPG on V6 2.6 getting misfire on low down acceleration has been on all diagnostics for petrol and LPG even with new plugs (GM) spoke to NGK Tech about problem they recommended  Single pole Ground electrode not standard Iridium but a special which is 2.5mm longer than standard plug.
Can anyone help by telling me the clearance of TDC of piston to bottom of standard plug.
Or has anyone used these special single ground iridium electrode plugs from NGK
Any advice cheers Dave

I use GM Twin Electrode plugs with no problems :y :y :y

Somewhere on here there are some pictures of the old ones I removed after about 20K running LPG, and they still looked good ;) ;)

try the pedal trick first, see maintenance under paper clip test. The car will tell you, say, which cylinder is missfiring for instance.

Ngk get a poor reception on here. Inferior(?) to GM(made by bosch) twin and quad electrode which are considerably cheaper from a dealer beleive it or not.

Cant beat vx for plugs and oil, just cant. :-)

I normally rate NGK plugs but, and I must admit I didn't get the special Iridium ones or change heat rating, I didn't think they made any improvement over GM plugs... In fact, they only stayed in for about 5k ::) ::)

The GM plugs are fine on LPG. I have the 4 electrode ones in. They did about 25k on petrol before my conversion and have done about the same on LPG since.

They could do with changing now, TBH, but with that life at a couple of quid a plug on TC you'd be a madman to pay for iridium plugs.

I say your problem is probably elsewhere. :-/
