Hmmm....strange...
« on: 14 December 2007, 22:41:21 »

This accident happened in Swindon yesterday.........and caused Swindon to become gridlocked with traffic in rush hour.......some major roads were closed.....more than stated in this report

http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/mostpopular.var.1904354.mostviewed.cyclist_in_serious_rushhour_collision.php

I went pass this accident about 10mins after it happened.....so traffic wasnt too bad then.

The Lexus in the accident i believe........still had its blue lights flashing  :o

About 5 mins before the accident a lexus.....plain car with blue lights flashing charged over a roundabout in front of me going in the direction of the accident......i did think at the time....blimey hes moving a bit.

Strange how the report doesnt mentioned it was a police vehicle involved......but then it may not have been!

Same one or different i dont know.......... :-/

The report states the cyclist tho without lights was on the pavement......... :o :o

Main thing that jumps out to me, from the news feed, was that the cyclist was on the pavement?

WTF?  Police vehicle or a Fire Service peep that was using his blue lights to get to an incident before the big red battlebus?

Without dismissing your comment, please ensure its a Police vehicle and not Fire Service, ambulance or other emergency vehicles equally entitled to use blues etc .....

On the balance of probabilities, yes, its going to be a police vehicle but will you be equally quick to post a correction??

If the press arrived after the crash, it may not have seen that the car had a blue light.... it was either switched-off or removed from the roof (as the case may be).

There is a strange car going around my office from time to time, it is a small French MPV e.g. Scenic or Megane (can't remember), plain white, with blue light on the roof. The blue light is fixed, not a portable one, but looks like an after-market fix rather than a factory-fitted one. The car has no marking whatsoever, and the driver is uniformed i.e. vest full of pouched and lots of kit but I couldn't quite make out if it is police or other emergency services. Seen this car a few times in the past couple of months, so must be a regular.... OK OK, I'll try to snap a pic next time  ;D
