ECU Managment Light

Just changed cam shaft sensor on my 2.0ltr Mig and the ECU light is still on. It is still limiting revs to 3600ish ie safety mode.
Any ideas welcome.

not sure if you need code reader to reset it,when i changed mi maf sensor the fault was still there till id reset the light

If the light is still on you still have a fault.
You could do with getting the codes read with a code reader to see what it's complaining about.

I am assuming you `clipped it for codes prior to cam sensor fitting.

If the light is still on then the ECU is still receiving a live
fault.
Do a Paperclip Test and see what's bothering it.

Cam sensor. Did you replace with genuine. If so re-check cabling and connections. When cam sensor is replaced successfully EML will automatically extinguish

It has been replaced with the GM modified one. This had been fitted prior to my owning the car. Have fitted the new cable that came with the replacement sensor and soildered the wires on to the same positions as before as the colour codes on the wires do not match for what ever reason!

IIRC  the old to new type cam sensor conversion on the X20XEV  had, from memory an extra wire in the cable, which you need to earth.  :-/

You may just be correct in your assumpsion as I did notice the other wire but did ignore it. I will now go and connect said wire to ground+

Indeed, even motorfactors sell stuff as 'geniune' when its not. Get yourself to a Vx dealer and get one  :y

I changed my cam sensor back in 2006 for geniune, had zero issues since  :)

I've just had exactly the same problem on mine.. and fixed it today.
You will need a multimeter!!

Here are the autodata references I used. they may be of some help to you:

I measured the resistances of the sensor itself, then plugged it back in and measured the resistances at the ecu end (that diagram above shows you which pins they are connected to on the ecu) and found that one of the wires was reading a high resistance. I replaced this and now my miggy is running sweet :) Mine too was fitted with a modified cps.
You will find that your pattern part cps reads high on the resistances most likely as well. Timing belt tension has also been known to throw up this code aparently.
