I could be wrong (apologies if that is the case) as I haven't had to touch the fan speed control on either of my Omegas.

On my MK1 Carlton there was a series resistor in the airstream of the fan. When it failed I could only select either off or full speed.

The fins on the hedgehog must be there for a purpose. Cooling is the only purpose that I can think of.

[edit]If you know that the hedgehog gets hot presumably there was nothing in the recess. Therefore you would have felt air being blown out (or sucked in) if it was in the air duct from the fan   :-/[/edit]

Sorry got it wrong the Hedgehog does sit in the air stream  As I broke off both clips I am trying ways to hold it in the mounting As the fan tunnel is probably polypropylene it cannot be glued Probably jam in with a piece of wood very technical and hope it holds ok

I never had to touch the speed controller on my previous Omega so forgive me if these suggestions aren't helpful
1. can you get a cable tie (or a daisy chain of cable ties) round the duct to hold the hedgehog in?
2. self tapping screws?

I thought about a tie around the duct but I dont think that you can get to it .I have also considered self tappers. Maybe mastic maybe carpet tape, At present it is jambed in with a piece of wood .

Well done, you are the first in the history of this forum to recognise the make and badge.
Its not on the road at present, mostly due to Mr Lucas and his products.

A bead of silicone might hold it in place, around edge of controller then push it home.
Hot melt glue another idea but I suspect it would soften too much on hot sunny days (remember those)

This job is fairly easy in summer but at this time of year the wiring is stiff to move and the plastics are brittle as you have found.

Seriously?

I thought it too obvious to require comment.

I haven't had the pleasure of jampot ownership, just Royal Oilfields (not Indian) & Triumphs.
