Just a few issues!
« on: 28 December 2009, 18:05:12 »

Car is lovely to drive, just getting annoyed with following problems;
Gear box (auto) regularly comes out of gear and you have to either drop into 3rd or wait for the revs to drop down and automatically crashes back usually sending it into limp home mode. I suspect not an easy fix?

Had both rocker cover gaskets changed twice and still oil is leaking, have been told need to replace with new rocker covers with seals built in? sounds expensive.

Oil leaking causes emmissions light to permanently be on, if car is parked facing up a hill the enging missfires (probably the oil?) on start and emmisssions light flashes then stays on.

Christmas eve after getting petrol I returned to car opened an unlocked un alarmed car(as wife was still inside) and a different to usual car alarm immediately went off it was not the horn, it only stopped when I started the car and drove away!
Last night this alarm and the main alarm both went off a number of times making me very unpopular, after reading a few posts on here I suspect the secondary alarm noise is the power sounder?
I spent morning cleaning all door catches and checking bonnet sensor wiggled a few fuses! and have not had an alarm since.

Any advice help on any of these things might help me not want to get rid of the car! I have lived with the autobox problem 3 years but the wife hates it when it happens
thanks
Pete

Do the pedal trick for the codes http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1189022687
Never heard of cam covers with built-in seals/gaskets.
Were genuine gaskets used initially. Camcover bolts torqued to 8nm.

If you're on the 3rd set of cam covers and they are still leaking then either a) the breathers weren't cleaned or b) they've been over tightened.

Gearbox needs an oil and filter change after a proper techII code read and software update.

You are not far from Nottingham and Marks DTM..he can check the 'box for error codes and might help to change the box fluid and filter if you ask nicely.

All been done, it seems to be an electrical issue so maybe as sparkyw666 suggests it may be solenoid?

regarding the alarm, after reading all the posts about removing power sounder, I did but 5mins after locking  car, the alarm is still going off. Really starting to be annoying, tried locking on key only still goes off, can't really leave it unlocked where I live!
