Highly unlikely but get under a car and check that it hasn't rusted from the underside

check for any holes underneath, there are 2 bolts in each footwell which i assume are for clips for the matts. Rear passenger on mine was missing somehow, not sure what happended to it. Caused dirty great big hole, and letting in water. which soaked into the carpet

Were I you I would check the Sunroof drainage. Had this problem on an old Grannie and that was what it turned out to be.

I had the same problem, water on passenger floor carpet, found that the scuttle drain blocked on that side coming through pollen filter to floor, also check windscreen bottom seal.

I am sure the sunroof drains go down the A post, not sure where they exit the car, but easy to check.

I am a little confused, do you mean the carpet in the foot well, or the carpet actually on the door panel itself ?

Others have answered if it is in the footwell, but if it is the door panel carpet, then I would take the panel off and check the membrane behind it. If it has holes/tears or even not there that would be a good place to start.

If membrane is ok I would check the mounting of the door mirror as this above the level of the membrane and if leaking would allow water down the back of the door panel.

I was wondering the same .... the way i read it it was the carpet stuff on the bottom of the door .... not the floor carpet  :-/

think he main the door card, it could be the liner in the door, if its blocked on the drain holes.

I have the same problem with my 2001 3.0.

Today after clearing the heavy snow I found the floor mat in the drivers footwell soaking.

The plastic trim near to the accelerator pedal  towards the wing appears to have water coming from behind it.

It's not the scuttle as I have just taken that off and cleared behind it.

Where are the sunroof drainage channels and how do you unblock them?

Thanks,

Andy
