Heater fan won't switch off
« on: 23 January 2010, 15:17:05 »

Hi Chaps, just given the car a run, and switched off as normal, and the climate control blower fan won't switch off.

It usually runs for a few seconds after switch off, but this is constant, have pulled the big 30 amp fuse under steering wheel and this has stopped it but I do need a permanent solution.

Thanks in advance.

Oh yes should add the I cannot change the speed of the fan via the buttons.

Had this problem myself recently Bought a new hedgehog on ebay for about £60.00. Be very careful when you take the old one out I did it during the cold spell and the retaining clips broke off. Out of interest how many miles has your car done. Can you think of a more stupid design that a failure means the fan keeps running with the ignition off.

Check the drain at the bottom of the nearside scuttle, if blocked rain water gets into the heater blower and causes the electronic fan speed controller to fail.

Yes does seem odd to fail that way, I am buying a second hand one off the forum. I have removed the old one and fortunatly the lugs have not broke.

That is one of the jobs I regularly do, and after removing it it is bone dry with no sign of any problems so I suppose it is an internal fault, Thanks for the suggestion though.
