Plug Pack removal
« on: 22 January 2010, 11:34:11 »

I am in the process of changing cam cover gaskets and the plug pack looks a bit flimsy is there a easy/prescribed way to remove it without prising on the cam cover to get them out
Thanks

Hi,
Remove the 6mm fixing bolts, then screw in some 8mm bolts. Simples.

In the covers, there is a 8mm thread insert fitted into the fixing holes specially to enable you to jack out the CPP units without any prising or levering that may damage them.

as Roger says, the coil pack bolts pass through a brass insert set into the coil pack itself, the insert has a thread you can screw a larger bolt into, then pull the coil pack out via the bigger bolts, beware pulling the coil pack out if the inlet manifold is still fitted, if it flies out too quick it can wack the fuel line union and damage the cp. Either remove the inlet manifold first or wrap a rag around the fuel line thread.
