For £212 they would probably have replaced the fan belt not the cambelt.........!!!

Hi there,
I live in the Ashfield area of Notts, can any of you guys recommend a good place to get my belt and any other  requiired bits changed on my 2.5 v6 Elite. Also got a weep on one of the rear shockers (self adjusting) anyone know the best price for a pair of these?
Many thanks
Philipb

If both the distance and the price conspire against you, you can always do it yourself. It is not that difficult, the belt was around £40 and the tensioner £70 (it was few years ago, so I do not remember prices). Some suggest changing water pump, I personally do not see why and if I am not mistaken it is electric and does not run of the belt anyway.

Cambelt kits with tensioners are around £60 to £90

Why replace the pump.....??

Well, it is a £15 part and your deep in there anyway.....the cost and consequences of a failed water pump make it a "must do" item when changing cam belt

Changing the water pump is a must.

Its critical on the 4 pots as its cambelt driven, still important on the V6 (although cambelt driven & not electrical)

Consider how far down you have to strip to get to the water pump, and damage if it fails. You have stripped down, so why not? Also good chance to do an excellent coolant flush.  :y

You are very much mistaken ::) although it doesn't run off the cambelt on a V6, its is belt driven.
