Passenger door shut cannot open.
« on: 25 January 2010, 12:00:20 »

Hi everyone,Well I,ve cocked up again, been having problems with the the rear n/s door not locking when using the central locking.
So having a hour to kill yesterday decided to sort it,plenty of wd40 all seemed to be working ok,reassembled and closed the door, now it closed it will not open, and I can,t get at the screws to see whats happened.
Anybody got any ideas of how to sort it. I think the child lock has accidently been put on.

Had similar problem in the past, try pushing the door inwards whilst lifting handle and then snatch it open if that makes sense.

Sounds like it's deadlocked. Had this with my front passenger door. Try lowering the window and from the outside, get as firm a grip as you can on the button and pull upwards slowly and firmly. keep pulling for as long as you can and it might just release. You may have to try several times before it releases. You will need to replace the lock solenoid once you get it open or it will happen again.

Same as G par, only while you are pulling it up also use your remote cos it might just need a bit of an assitance.
Another last resort dodge would be to pour a kettle of very hot water down the gap, gently prise the rubber trim away from the window bottom, aiming it backwards towards to door lock. The water will drain out of the bottom drain holes and you will need to remove the door interior trim to dry it out properly, then lubricate the mechanism. It softens any hardened grease and by expanding the metal gives it a bit of tolerance. It worked for me on an old ford.

Brill friend you have.....
Link slipped off?
Yep, that is a common problem if someone has put them on the wrong way round after they have had it apart. They must go on only one way or it will work for a while and then do the same again. Even the old haynes tell you that.
I mark mine now when I take them off and take a pic with my phone to make sure.#
Hope you did a clean and lube job while it was available.
