hi, been havin probs with my 2001 2.2. started with engine mang light coming on, took to garage, one of codes was co2 sensor no2, i replaced both sensors, light still on, presumed it needed a code reader to clear fault so bought one rather than another £28 visit to garage, cleared fault but keeps coming back, this time with "PO170 fuel trim malfunction bank1, below minimum threshold, DTC present at time of request" and "PO130 sensor circuit malfucnction bank1"
the PO170 came back next time with above threshold. any ideas? ta

first off i would give the EGR a clean, see if that helps

Unfortunatly mate it sounds like you have just throwed your moey down the drain on buying sensors.It is more than likely your precat sensor needs relocating like i did with mine.Just look in the maintainence section at the how to,the pictures are actually of my exhaust when me and wellung did mine.Apparently its when the pre cat is failing,so instead of buying a new one just relocate the sensor,job done.

pre-cat sensor issue affects 3.2 only, 2.2 does not have this problem.

Who read the codes, re-reading 'bank1' suggests it was set to V6 when the codes were read?  :-/

Ok, will try that.
The 2 sensors my dealer gave me had different ends on them (but were both 4 wire), the guy said they did the same thing, on some web sites i see them listed as post and pre cat. do you know if they need diff sensors. it was universal ones i bought. the live read out for the sensors are different, No1 bounces all over the place from 0.100 to 0.900 while no 2 sits between 0.300 to 0.600, should they read roughly the same

the first time got codes read the guy just gave me the faults, the ones i posted were from the software that came with the code reader i bought.

Ideally you need live data on the air intake temp sensor, lambdas both open/closed circuit and heater side. Daft as it sounds, try and find someone local with a 2.2 and try their MAF on yours, clear the codes and run it up to temp, see what you get then

My lights on too......its coming up as
O2 one and lean something or other (sorry cant find the piece of paper i wrote the codes on)

Its got new downpipe,EGR valve and front O2 sensor

I take it the O2 sensor i didnt change is goosed??

Stands a good chance, don't get me wrong they can be fragile but they need a really good whack to break them. Is the code P0170 on yours too?

I had a P0420 code on my 2.2 a long time ago .... was only cured with a new cat  ... following that i had the P0170 fuel trim cured by new maf :-/

initially it was the no 2 sensor that showed a fault, it looks fine now according to the live data (it was replaced), i put a new exhaust on a few months back so shouldnt b the cat, ive tried an air flow meter but it made no difference.
I have another problem now!!!!!! oil in spark plug holes, happend last year and i put a new gasket in, that solved the problem, i read somewhere that the rocker covers can warp cos there plastic. I love my omega but.....

Vx put a new cat on mine and it was so cheap and crappy if started throwing up the P0420 code within 2 months .... i then replaced it with a better quality one and been fine since .... oil in plug wells is very common ... you need to clean out the breather pipes and redo the gasket with genuine Vx as cheap pattern gaskets are poor

I just did the cat and nothing else .... hows yours been ? .. mines been fine

I belive its also good parctice to do the breathers at least once a year to stop the pressure build up blowing the gasket .... come to think of it mine may be due as well
