CD CODE?
« on: 31 January 2010, 19:49:28 »

Sorted a new car out for a mate, S- Reg, 3.0 V6, Omega Elite, V. Nice, would not mind owning one myself.

The radio works but when you press the 'o' on the steering wheel to access the 5 stacker cd in the boot it beeps and says 'safe' on the dashboard. I have entered the code in to it but to no avail, the radio and tape works though.

Any ideas?

Not on a 1998 mate - you need seperate codes for radio and CD - both on car pass  :y

Probably a stupid suggestion, but, you are pressing the 'o' button when you turn the radio on and not the Auto tune button???   or is that a different model radio???

Mine is a 1998 2.5 Elite and this is how I did it using the TWO seperate codes for the CD and Radio!
You need to hold the O (CD) button and push the ON/Volume knob simutaneously on the radio/CD unit itself, not the steering wheel, until you hear a beep, then let go. Enter the CD code from your carpass using the number buttons and when all 4 are entered press and hold the O button until it beeps again.
The radio is almost the same but using the AS button instead.
Note though! My carpass details did not match the CD cos someone had changed the changer unit! Got it eventually and now all is fine.
Remember that when you disconnect the battery you lose the settings and it will again go into SAFE mode.

Try Dave DND, he tends to linger in the Electrical and ICE section :y
