Cam cover change
« on: 04 February 2010, 12:46:12 »

Hi everybody.
In the middle of changing the cam covers. Have removed the Manifold lower section and noticed alot of red crusty stuff under the manifold flange.
Can anybody on here tell me what it might be.

Many thanks, Joe.

P.s Would post some pics but dont know how on here.

Not sure why you're taking manifolds off to repace cam covers :-? :-/ But to post pictures you need to host them on a site such as Photobucket or flickr and then insert the url between img tags... Top row of buttons, 3rd one in :y :y

Hope that helps :y :y

Oh... And welcome to the forum :y :y :y

Have taken the inlet bridge and injector assembly off,
( in the haynes manual they call it the manifold lower section )
so the red crusty stuff is according to the maintenance guide on here is under the inlet manifold.

Will try to post pics later.

It sounds like evidence of a coolant leak... But may not be a current one :-/ :-/ :y :y

Thanks for all of your help.
Got a mechanic friend of mine coming around later to have a look but will need to take the flange of to access the oil cooler underneath which is a pain because i will have to get the seals for that now.

Please keep your help coming.
Many thanks , Joe
