disconnection of maf sensor

due to car cutting out on low revs did a pedal triick and showed 0100 maf sensor , disconnected and problem went away but warning light (,picture of engine came on) is this normal and does it sound as if my maf sensor has broken although was only changed 9,000 miles ago

Yes if the car ran better without maf then its definatly the maf ... the other light would come on with maf disconnected  :y

yes, maf fault. Strange it only lasted 9k, was it new, genuine, pattern, second hand? is there a non standard filter fitted?

Search for the bosch part number, vx are ott on the same part.

random thought, do you have a K&N oiled panel air filter? These can kill MAF's

If not, its worth making sure your air-filter is clean  :y

should add 2.6 and 3.2 are the same maf part no.

Give it a good spray with Carb Cleaner or similar. Sometimes they get mucked up.
This trick was shown to me by my mate who re-mapped my Omega
Worth a try ;)

Seems you randomly picked up on my thoughts Tuns.

Given that the maf, and i'm fairly sure the whole induction system, is the same on the bigger 3.2 engine as it is on the 2.6, that would suggest that the induction parts are not restrictive, esp on the 2.6, meaning a less restrictive filter is pointless, as has been discussed many times.

Could be the same for the 4 pots too, sure the air filters are the same. Mine looks identical to the one i put on the 3.0  :-/
